OUTCOMES FOR THIS SESSION ARE:
- Overview of the neuroscience of learning and how individual variability plays out in different educational environments
- Overview of the UDL Guidelines and techniques to apply UDL principles to the design of lessons and curriculum units
- Vocabulary review of important terms and concepts that will be referenced throughout the symposium
We know from experience and neuroscience that individuals learn in varied ways. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) provides educators with practical strategies and techniques to ensure that all learners can meet high expectations, such as the Common Core State Standards. In this introductory crash course, participants learn the research basis for UDL, practical applications of UDL to lesson design, and will have a reminder of the terms and key points they will hear throughout the symposium.
